I admit it! I love Marie!

Seriously. If you have Netflix and haven't heard of Marie Kondo I am shocked! I had read her book a few years back and attempted to put her practices into my life, but it only lasted about one load of laundry.

Over winter break and many times of feeling guilty telling my girls to clean their rooms, when I knew mine was not clean,  I was scrolling through Netflix and stumbled upon her new show, Tidying Up.  I had just purchased a new to me bedroom set and felt like this was the perfect time to go for it!

I literally took every piece of clothing out of my closet and drawers and piled it in the living room (I can't believe I didn't take a picutre, I will be honest it was a little embarassing.) Once I piled everything in the living room I grabbed boxes and bags, boxes for our local consignment shop and to give to a clothing drive at church and bags for clothes that needed to be turned to rags.

After almost 2 days of going through EVERYTHING in our bedroom we moved the new bedroom set in and loaded up SEVERAL bags and boxes for donation.  I will be honest, I didn't really "talk" to each piece of clothing, but I did "let go" of some things I was keeping just out of good times or memories that I thought of when looking at the item.

I vowed to make our bed each morning, fold our t-shirts in tiny little rectangles, and be a good role model for our girls.  Yes, mom, you read that I vowed to make my bed each morning (I was taught how to make my bed, honestly just never did it.) Now, as I sit here on day 18 of operation restful bedroom that doesn't cause anxiety, I am so happy that I was reintroduced to Marie!

Have you watched Marie's new show or read her book?  What are your thoughts on her methods?

Okay, I watched a couple episodes today. If I only kept the clothing that brings me joy the world might see me close to "neked".
