I'd be a liar if I said that I didn't check the status of my delivery immediately when I got out of work today. It was actually the first thing the girls asked me when I picked them up, too! Everyone at our house knew that today was DELIVERY day!

We laughed and joked the entire way home that I was going to hug and kiss the UPS man when he arrived with the box of books. The girls told me that I would humiliate them if I did...

We turned the corner and started to head down our gravel road when Grace suddenly screamed! I nearly drove off of the road and then I realized why she was screaming. "Give me your phone, let me take a picture, this is monumental, MOM!" said Grace. We all got the giggles and raced towards home.

We pulled in the driveway like the place was on fire because we knew he was right on our "tail." When he finally got stopped I ran over to him and told him I had a really weird question for him. His response..."Is it weirder than driving in and seeing a pig running around in a snowstorm?" He may or may not have been witness to that Valentine's Day pig chase. We all got the giggles an then I sheepishly asked him if he would take a picture with me. I'm pretty sure he didn't know what to say, but he agreed. 😉 I did finally explain why I was so excited and why I wanted the picture, he congratulated me and went on his way.

Rob carried the 40 pound box in the house and Team Schmitt went in to full work mode! I truly don't know what I would do without my family.

I signed and wrote notes while they stuffed bookmarks and envelopes to mail out. I felt like it was really important that the girls saw all of the work that went into this project and that they got to be a part of prepping the books for shipment. (They even get to deliver a few to their school tomorrow.) I want them to know that if you put your mind to something, dream big and huge, work hard, and never give up that you can accomplish anything.

I added a new exciting adventure to the "Author Tour." I will be at the Iowa Horse Fair selling and signing books and promoting the idea of Dreaming Big and Huge!

Have you been to the Iowa Horse Fair? Hugged your local UPS man/woman or stalked the arrival of an important delivery?

From the Gravel Road-

Jen

P.S. If you know this UPS man, give him a shout out! I bet he deals with some crazy things out on the gravel roads. 😉

Dream big and huge! You just never know when those dreams come true.

Stories, swirling, stories!  For as long as I can remember I have had stories swirling around in my head.  Stories about my kids, my childhood, fun adventures, sad stories, funny stories and inspirational stories.

When I started working full time and spending a lot more time in my car I started to use my phone to capture some of these stories. I would use the speech to text feature and just blab into my phone.  Then later I would go back and edit and take out those silly speech to text errors that occur.

A few months ago I decided, why not? Why not dream big and huge?  What is stopping me from pursuing the adventure of bringing some of these stories to life for others to enjoy?  So with the encouragement of my husband, family, and friends- I leapt!  I dove head first and started looking for an illustrator with the courage to pursue my dreams.

If you follow me on social media you have seen little hints of Tawanda’s Tales: Best Friends Forever.  The entire process of seeing my story come to life has been surreal. From the first sketch of a character, to the final agreement on a character, and to the actual sketch of pages of the book, it has just been crazy.  I posted on Facebook that it feels like the anticipation of a new bouncy baby. With each sketch the illustrator sends I am one more step closer to seeing my dream become a reality.

I cannot wait to share Tawanda with all of you once everything is finished.  I am in hopes that sometime in February I can do that! The crazy part about sharing your dreams is that is leads to more dreams coming true. Since sharing my story on social media I have been asked by a business and two different school districts to come speak about my book. It's just crazy-as I told one of my friends, I got a speaking "gig." Little old me, got a speaking gig! HA!

What big dreams do you have?  Have you leapt? What’s holding you back?
